Description Related Products Enquiry

Mold racks (also known as mold shelves or drawer-type mold racks) are heavy-duty storage equipment designed specifically for storing various stamping molds, injection molds, die-casting molds, etc. Their core features are "independent pull-out of each mold, high load-bearing capacity, small footprint, and strong security".

1. Mainstream structural forms

Semi-open design, pull-out mechanism: drawer can be pulled out 40-60%, single drawer load capacity: 800-1500 kg, suitable for: small to medium-sized molds, manual operation + manual hoist.

Fully openable design, pull-out mechanism: drawers can be pulled out more than 90% of the way; single drawer load capacity: 1,000–5,000 kg; suitable for: large molds, direct lifting of molds by overhead cranes/electric hoists.

Three-column reinforced design; pull-out mechanism: double-sided guide rails + central column; single pull-out load capacity: 3,000–5,000 kg; applicable scenarios: automotive body panels, aerospace composite molds.

2. Dimensions and Number of Layers

Standard Total Height: 2000–3000 mm (4–6 layers)

Single Drawer Clear Height: Determined by the mold's "closed height + safety clearance," generally adjustable from 250–600 mm with a step size of 50 mm; extra-large molds can reach over 1000 mm.

Depth/Width: Matches the maximum shape of the mold; commonly used modules are 600×800, 800×1000, and 1000×1200 mm, but non-standard customization is also available.

3. Materials and Load-Bearing Capacity

Uprights: 100×50 mm C-shaped steel or 120×50 mm channel steel, rolled in one piece, thickness 2.0–3.0 mm; maximum load capacity of the entire frame 15–25 t

Drawer tray: Rectangular tube + 4 mm bent parts welded together, topped with a 4 mm anti-slip steel plate; double-row ball bearing slide rails at the bottom, pull-out resistance ≤25 N, can be pushed and pulled with one hand even under a full load of 5 t

Surface Treatment: Shot blasting → epoxy zinc-rich primer → powder coating

4. Safety and Accessories

Anti-fall: The drawer front is equipped with a mechanical locking pin, preventing it from sliding out without manual unlocking; the fully open type has an additional secondary safety hook.

Anti-tipping: X-shaped diagonal brace at the back + ground expansion bolts (M16, embedment depth ≥100 mm)

Top movable hoist: Manual/electric optional, load capacity 0.5–2 t, left and right travel is consistent with the length of the shelf, solving the problem of lifting molds in factories without overhead cranes.

Color: Blue for uprights/orange-red for drawers is the industry default color scheme, facilitating visual management.

5. Application Scenarios

Stamping Workshop: Stores progressive dies and single-stamp dies, reducing die changeover time from 30 minutes to 5 minutes.

Injection Molding Workshop: Works in conjunction with die changeover trolleys to achieve rapid die changeover via "pre-installation in drawers - full pull-out and full push-out".

Warehouse/Die Center: Multiple rows arranged back-to-back, aisle width 900–1100 mm, increasing space utilization by 2–3 times.

In summary, mold racks are not ordinary heavy-duty racks with drawers; rather, they are modular units where "a single mold = an independent storage location," allowing for pull-out and lifting. This directly benefits mold changeover efficiency, 5S on-site management, and mold lifespan. If you have a mold list or factory floor plan, please send it to me, and I will calculate the number of drawers needed for one row, select the appropriate load-bearing capacity, and provide a quote range.
